IT ONLY TAKES ONE YES is a timely, inspirational 45-min. documentary which follows 3 young Black men as they seek to fulfill their dreams in the world of athletics, culinary arts and music.
The film presents the reality of racism both past and present and its impact on American society as well as how these young men overcome its bitterness and paralysis with love and determination.
It Only Takes One Yes is a film of hard-earned victories and unexpected setbacks. The journey involves getting knocked down but always getting back up, often discouraged but ultimately hopeful not only for their own lives but also for those younger than themselves who one day will start their own journey to find that One Yes.
The film helps us understand the difficulties that African Americans face to this day through high unemployment rates, tension with the police and often less obvious prejudices. To better understand the current situation, the film also briefly explores and informs the African American struggle for civil rights as portrayed in the Dred Scott decision and the violence of Mississippi in the 1960s.
